Trap is one of those genres that I only like if it's done right, and Mistermike's remix of "Thinking About You" is done right. It brings you into the song with some really clever drum and bass lines, adding in synths at the right moments. Chopped up vocals can also add a lot and they're done well here. Then once the song gets into the heavier trap sounds that we're used to, they're not overused. Direct DownloadMistermike [Facebook] Calvin Harris [Facebook] Posted by Atkins under Music
With electronic music becoming so popular nowadays, some very impressive music is starting to come out that spans from one end of the genre to the other. "This Means War" by Lauren Rantalla has been given a very slick electronic remix treatment by SOHELLA. Even if you don't like electronic music you'll be able to appreciate the vocals on their own. This track has a very laid back feel to it, but mixes in the vocals unbelievably well. Definitely worth a listen. Direct DownloadSOHELLA [Facebook] Posted by Atkins under Music
I recently got to work on my latest mashup which includes one of my favorite EDM songs, "Maximal Crazy" by Tiesto. That song will always have a special place in my heart, so mixing it in with some other great tracks rounded it out for me. A breakdown with Wolfgang Gartner's "Overdrive" with "Sunrise" by The Ashton Shuffle blended in, not taking too much away from the original. A harder EDM track that I'm sure people will enjoy. I've been trying for a bit to find a way to mash Flo Rida's "Whistle" into some house music, and I'm glad to see that The Disco Fries did it amazingly. The vocals in their bootleg are clear, mixed in with tracks by Feed Me and Popeska, two fantastic producers. A bootleg I'll hopefully start hearing in clubs real soon. Along with the heavier stuff, every now and then everybody wants something chill to relax to. RL Grime's remix of "The Way U Do" by Shlohmo is a great, calm, electronic remix with a fantastic vibe. It doesn't quite hit on the electrohop groove of some other chill songs, but doesn't fail to keep you captivated nevertheless. Shlohmo [Facebook] RL Grime [Facebook] Posted by Atkins under Music
After being destroyed by work all day and not having time to post Funny Foto Friday for everybody, I couldn't just leave everybody with nothing to take them into the weekend. Thankfully DJ Jonny Dougs has supplied us with a great trap mix for your commute home. Heavy bass makes everybody happy. Today we have some new house from David Puentez. David Puentez has a very cool upbeat sound to his tracks and "Horizon" is no different. A great use of synths and some off-beat percussion give this song a great feel with superb buildups. Overall a fantastic dance track. Kicks n Licks were unknown to me not too long ago but I've been listening to them and they've been cranking out some really good music. Seven Lions is an amazing producer with bass heavy melodic tracks, and Kicks N Licks simply add to that with their remix of "Days to Come." Heavy bass with rolling melodies makes this an amazing track. Kicks N Licks [Facebook] Seven Lions [Facebook] Posted by Atkins under Music
I've been slacking recently when it comes to giving you guys new music but I'm on top of it today. Minnesota and Adventure Club have both been featured on Lost My Way, so having Minnesota do a remix of "Need Your Heart" is unbelievable. The track is already superb dubstep but Minnesota chops up some of the vocals and adds in their signature progressive chords and amazing synths. Cutting back on some of the hard drops Minnesota creates a tune that's more mellow and easy to listen to. We're going to throw some glitch-hop at you after a couple of days without any new music. Seven Lions has been featured on Lost My Way before and for good reason, he has an amazing and unique sound when it comes to his music. "She Was" is no different with some great chord progressions that lead into heavy, grinding drops. Fantastic synth work with an upbeat tempo make this song a good choice to jam out to.
