Not one thing about this says aquarium.
A weird trend taking hold in the U.K. is households having fish as pets. I know some people might not think that's weird but one in 10 households now own fish as pets, outranking cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs combined. The thought is that it's much easier to take care of a pet fish than an actual pet which would explain why people are buying so many. It could also be that people just want giant fish tanks to showcase in their living rooms to brag to their neighbors.

I don't know about anybody else but a fish doesn't make a good pet. There's literally nothing you can do with it except watch it swim around and maybe feed it every now and then. That's not fun, that's about as boring as it gets. At least with something like a turtle you can take it out of the tank and let it run around on the floor. Dogs and cats are fluffy for a reason, they're meant to be pets. Fish are meant to be eaten, that's why they're so delicious. Just don't get mad at me if you have a fish for a pet and I'm fishing in your aquarium. I'm doing what the good lord intended.

TL;DR Britons are keeping more fish as pets than cats and dogs and that's unnatural.
