This immediately went up a child's nose.
With America's new found war on everything delicious, neuroscientist Fernando Gomez-Pinilla decided to test what sugar does to the body on lab rats. Gomez-Pinilla first trained the rats to run a maze, then over the next six weeks gave half the rats water with fructose syrup and half flaxseed and fish oil. The findings were that the rats who were given the sugar gradually ran the maze slower and slower while the other half ran them slightly faster. After dissecting the brains of the rats, because why not, it was found that the sugar was having an effect on their ability to learn.

This would explain why little fat kids with sticky fingers are morons. I used to think that it was because children are just idiots and don't learn anything anyway, now I know it's because of all the sugar. The only problem I find here is that I was a smart kid and I used to eat candy all the time. My parents bought stock in Mars, Inc. simply because I ate so much candy. Now to know that if I didn't eat any candy I probably could have cured cancer by now? I would be disappointed if candy wasn't so damn good.

TL;DR A study on lab rats found that sugar has an adverse effect on your ability to learn.
