Talk about a proposal, huh? Couldn’t have done it any better myself, Newt, you just moved up 100 points in my books. His only problem came in the execution of the “open marriage”. I’ll show you where he went wrong:
He suggested to his wife, Marianne, that they have open marriage.
Ok, this is fine. Like I said, all men should be this open and honest. Every relationship is open, but Newt had the balls to make his marriage open and actually share that information with his wife.
She said “No thanks”.
Oh well. Newt went through with it anyway. After all, this wasn’t a suggestion, this was a statement. “This marriage is open,” not “Can this marriage be open?” Clearly Marianne’s opinion was not important in the matter.
He had a steady mistress – Callista Bisek.
Bingo. Here is the point where Newt fucked the whole thing up. You don’t take advantage of an open marriage by engaging in another open relationship. You didn’t ask her to be a Mormon, did you? No. An open marriage doesn’t give you permission to have a girlfriend. It gives you permission to fuck around with random girls at any point that you feel so inclined.
When did the idea backfire on Newt? Right around the time that Marianne was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and he divorced her. Bad hit, man. You just turned from possible pimp to absolute dickhead. Now it just looks like you were setting up marriage number 3 for when marriage number 2 failed. He confirmed this by marrying his mistress.
Anyways, this just gives you one more reason to not vote for Newt Gingrich. The other reasons have a lot to do with him being an old, miserable racist bastard who ruined the economy in the first place. And now he’s destroying his image among the only people who support a character like that – religious conservatives. Kudos for giving me the “open marriage” idea though, Newt.
TL;DR Newt Gingrich asked for an “open marriage” with his second wife, but ruined it by falling in love with a mistress.
