I imagine it's tough to work in law day in and day out. The amount of stress that would build up must be intense, so I imagine that some government employees request the company of Mary Jane every now and again to set their minds straight. That doesn't mean they can bring a doobie into a courthouse though.
New Orleans attorney Jason Cantrell was in criminal court talking with police officers when a joint fell out of his pocket. Seeing as how pot is still illegal almost everywhere, Cantrell was cited and issued a summons but let go.
Marijuana enthusiasts are going to come out of the woodwork saying that nobody should get in trouble for a small amount of pot. My retort to that is nobody should have any weed on them when they're in a courthouse, regardless of if it's legal or not. What do you think would happen if a flask of whiskey happened to fall out of his pocket mid conversation? You would immediately think you had a raging alcoholic on your hands. Only those who have a serious problem with alcohol or manly men carry flasks on them at all times, and attorneys aren't manly men. So yes, Cantrell should get in trouble simply for carrying a recreational drug on him in a place where you shouldn't have recreational drugs.
TL;DR A joint falls out of an attorney's pocket while talking to police officers in a courthouse.
